Commodore's Corner

LET’S GO SAILING!

There is a hint of spring in the air.  Sailing season is just round the corner.  Plans are being made covering the full spectrum of Work Days to Socials. Other events include Regattas, Sail Camp, Adult Sailing Classes and Fun Sails. There will be new,  “must-have” promotional items.  Serenity and relaxation are always available (those aren’t planned; you are on your own).

Please refer to the event calendar in this issue of Tell Tales or check our website, grsa.org for additional information.

There are early indications of members’ renewed interest in our racing program.  We have also had inquiries from out-of-town sailors who plan to participate in some of our open regattas this summer.  Racing is a great way to improve your sailing skills, increase your confidence and build friendships.  I strongly encourage you to consider racing this year.   There are plenty of sailors who will help you get started.  You need only to learn a few basic right-of-way rules to get started.  Just follow other boats around for the first few races.  Later, with your newly gained knowledge, charge to the front.

Are you a person who said “next year I am going to sail more?”  Well, it’s next year.  Get more active, help out, bring the kids, pleasure sail, picnic, attend the socials, race.  Enjoy your Club!

See you on the water!
